Forum Runner Review

I promised that I would write a full review of the Forum Runner app, so here it is!

First, I tried to set it up to make it easy to find Lagoon Is Fun (LIF) in the app. A simple search for the word "Lagoon" will reveal the LIF Forum because this is the only forum associated with Forum Runner currently using that tag. Woohoo!

Once you find the forum, you can log in using your LIF username and password. I suggest bringing up the menu after that and adding the forum to your favorites. Then, every time you open Forum Runner, you can click Favorites to quickly access the LIF Forum. Forum Runner also saves your log-in information to make logging in during future visits easy.

When you access the forum, you will see the three categories: Lagoon, LagoonIsFun.com, and Other Stuff. Clicking on each category takes you to the individual forums within that section. A colored speech bubble notifies you of new posts within each category and forum. You can adjust the settings to make it take you to the unread posts within a discussion when you click on it. Unfortunately, that setting was working for me, but it isn't working anymore. I'm not sure what I did to break it.

Across the bottom of the app is the options Forums, Current, Messages, Subscribed, Profile, Search, and Online. Here is what each one does:

Forums takes you back to the category or forum listing you were in when you jumped to another section of the app like messages or profile.

Current allows you to see the most recent posts on the forum. You can view recent posts based on the number of days, since last visit, or by the discussions you participate in.

Messages takes you to your private messages box. You can read and send PM's in this section.

Subscribed allows you to view your thread and forum subscriptions.

Profile allows you to view your profile.

Search allows you to search the forum.

Online lets you see who is on the forum.

My screen isn't big enough to see all these options across the bottom of the screen, but I can scroll left or right to access all the options. I do enjoy the app, and I have found it useful. If you have any other questions about it, please let me know. I would love to know how the iOS version of the app works, so if someone is using it on their iPhone, I would love to know if the app works the same way.

How many acres does lagoon have?

I'm doing a project on a place in utah for my history class, I chose lagoon, and one of the facts I have to include is how big it is, or how much land it takes. I can't seem to find anywhere on the internet about how many acres it has. Does anybody know? My project is due tomorrow.

Changes to Lagoon's Water Rate

Lagoon is in the new again concerning the rate they pay for water. The Standard Examiner posted an article last night discussing the change to their water rate and noted that Lagoon has been working hard to reduce the amount of water it uses. Here are some of the highlights from the article:

Quote:The new commercial rate is expected to have a significant impact on Lagoon, because the amusement park was charged at a different rate than other commercial users when new water rates were enacted July 1, 2010, as part of the 2010-11 fiscal year budget.

Quote:The change will lower costs for Lagoon, but potentially raise them for other commercial customers because of a change in the base fee for meters.

Quote:Johnson said usage for commercial users was down from projections, especially for Lagoon. The amusement park used more than 21 million gallons of culinary water in 2011, compared to more than 50 million gallons the year before.

Quote:In a letter to city officials in July 2011, Dave Freed, one of the co-owners of the amusement park, said his company had invested $19,000 in new equipment and staff time to implement a new system to monitor water usage.

SOPA Blackout

Tomorrow wikipedia, reddit, and other sites will go dark to protest SOPA; I bring this up because these acts that were written by lobbyists instead of technology experts could affect every site on the internet, including Lagoon is Fun. Just think about how easy it would be for someone to complain about one video done by Deathbyillusion that we love, and Lif could be shutdown. I suggest everyone read a little bit about SOPA and PIPA and write to your senator and congressman telling them not to vote for this act.
