The near miss parts look like the greatest thing ever!

I'm super jealous of anyone who makes it out there.

This is a great move for the Point to make! Something like this would be excellent at Lagoon. Which from a rumor I heard about a year ago that they are looking into a new main entrance gate. I'm not saying a flying coaster at the main gate of Lagoon but just a cool custom coaster. An S&S Free Fly coaster around Lagoons gate would be cool, and yes I know the two coaster types are simular.

75 Roller Coasters, 2 Alpine Coasters, and counting!

After riding Wild Eagle in Dollywood I am a bit non-excited for this ride. Don't get me wrong, the ride is beautiful and will add so much life to that area of the park. The ride will also be a tremendous crowd pleaser, but Wild Eagle was far too tame and a bit boring. Like inverting coasters, you need a tight layout. Unfortunately, the wing rider track and train makes this almost impossible. I was expecting Cedar Point to add more near-miss elements.

I think the best wing rider coaster is still the first one, Raptor at Gardaland in Europe.

Wow! GateKeeper looks like it gonna be Great! The layout is a nice halfway point between Wild Eagle and X-Flight. The double Keyhole element positioned right over the main entrance more than justifies it's perfect name. It's nice to see them finally investing in another B&M after all this time. There have been rumors for years of a B&M Flyer, but this is clearly the better choice. You never see Flyers on people's top 10 lists. Still though....World Joyland's Sky Scrapper/Starry Sky Ripper has some nice looking ideas. Shame there's nothing like that here....GateKeeper is perfect compensation over the loss of their 2 coasters this season. I can't wait to hear the public's reviews next spring.

You'll Never Know Until You Go!

Tatsu is pretty great but I still agree that this looks like the better choice.

The B&M Flyer has been planned to Replace Iron Dragon since I worked at the Point in 2001. Too bad the former 4D Rumor/GateKeeper didn't stick to the original plan that would have left room for a big woodie to replace Disaster Transport. Funny how the 4D Rumor contained 2 Full/Full Inversions (Heartline Rolls) over the Entrance Gates, Raven Turn (Banked Immelmann), and New Man Gate/Entrance Plaza (with Keyholes). If a Flyer replaces Iron Dragon in a few years, that means the outlandish rumors, or parts of them from when I worked at the point in 2001 have made it to completion! That's some Future Planning! I mean seriously, a roller coaster that is 420 Feet Tall and Launches you to 120MPH in 3 Seconds? Who would have believed that Rumor?

Video Space Spiral Removed
The Space Spiral at Cedar Point came down today to make room for Gatekeeper. According to newsnet5.com, Cedar Point used 10 pounds of explosives to bring the tower down, and crews dug a hole to cusion the tower as it fell. Check out the tower coming down in this video:

Parts of the tower will live on in the ride graveyard during HalloWeekends.

I was thinking last night about Wing Riders and B&M. Do you think it is possible that they are in fact ahead of the curve with these type of coasters and have a 4D train planned in the works? We saw the magnetic rotation train S&S presented at IAPPA. I wonder it this can easily be implemented on Wing Riders. Thoughts?

I flew over Cedar Point yesterday. The ride is looking massive. Much bigger than I imagined! I still just hope that it is more forceful than Wild Eagle.

It could be the way B&M are designing their 4D Coasters. Not a common way to do it, so it might be what B&M is looking for. Although, they have yet to make anymore launched coasters, like the rest of the major coaster manufacturers.
