RE: Summer NoLimits Contest Interest
Here are the requirements for the contest:
- Steel type coaster with a chain lift
- Trains must use two-across seating
- Max height of the coaster must be between 200 - 225 feet
- Coaster must include a corkscrew element
- You must create and name a unique element for your coaster.
Your coaster must fit within those requirements. Anything else is up to you, so feel free to be as creative as you want.
Concerning the template, go ahead and get started if you want to use the template I uploaded previously to this thread. If someone else comes up with a simplified template that they feel would work better for the contest, we can use that too. I haven't officially started the contest because I wanted to give everyone plenty of time to offer feedback on the details of the contest. If everyone is happy with what we have, I will make the official announcement for the contest.

I see no good reason (in this case) to include a template.

The only reason I saw the need for a template is to help people avoiding the other rides that would be near this coaster such as DTR, Skyscraper, and the Pit Row building.

RE: Summer NoLimits Contest Interest
I had someone float an idea to me concerning the judging part of the contest, and I want to get some feedback from everyone else. Here it is:
Contest participants will email me their coaster tracks and a list of specs for the coaster. I will record a video of each coaster and post it here on Lagoon Is Fun. The videos will not mention who designed the coaster. It will just list the specs of the coaster, let people ride the coaster, and show the coaster from different angles to give everyone a good idea of the design. When it comes time to vote, I will simply list the coasters by a number.
I really liked this idea because it throws out any possible bias when it comes time to do the voting. People will simply vote on the design. Keep in mind that I am working out the final details on how this contest will be judged, so I wanted to float this idea before using it or not. Let me know.
Finally, the contest will officially start June 1st and run until the end of August.

RE: Summer NoLimits Contest Interest
I got feedback from Trackbender on Monday that there are issues opening the template for the contest, so I am going to drop the template completely. I agree with That Wyoming Kid that we really do not need a template for the contest. I will tweak the contest details slightly to note this change. However, you do not need to panic. If you have already started work on your coaster using the template, go ahead and continue using that template. You will not be judged on what template you use.
I would also like to let everyone know that I finally picked a prize for the contest, and here it is:
The winner of this contest will receive an 18" x 24" framed poster of Wicked!
