RE: Jet Star 2 Discussion
I've seen them use it many times and it really does an impact on loading. I also think it helps the ride look a bit more fresh. With Air Race right by it now, it would have looked more old fashioned than it does.

Why a Moto Coaster you ask? Because it would fit in the same location as Jet Star 2! Sorry Folks, Jet Star 2 is 41 Years Old this year and has surpassed it's Service Life. There are currently only four operating Jet Star 2s in the world and Lagoon is to be commended for spending countless millions on keeping her running as long as they have without altering the ride experience. A Zamperla Moto Coaster would provide a new and exciting ride experience that would complement the park and Air Race nicely.
Jet Star 2 Dimensions -
Length: 152 Feet
Width: 82 Feet
Height: 45 Feet
Track Length: 1,919 Feet
Hourly Capacity: 900pph
Minimum Height Requirement: 50"
Zamperla Moto Coaster Dimensions -
Length: 159 Feet
Width: 69 Feet
Height: 43 Feet
Track Length: 1,194 Feet
Hourly Capacity: 800pph
Minimum Height Requirement: 48"
This is the only acceptable replacement. I do not want to see Jet Star die, but it happens to all. I will always have the memory of Jet Star beating me up and from then on it earned my respect and it never gave me anymore problems.

We all know it's going to go sooner or later, but that doesn't mean it's gonna happen at this second. Let's give it its last few years Lagoon is willing to give it then say farewell, not ask for new hotness when old and busted still trying to give a few rounds.

RE: Jet Star 2 Discussion
It seems that everyone is upgrading to bigger, faster, record breakers. Us older folk miss some of the old rides, I get it, we've beaten that one to death. I've never worked at Lagoon and I surely don't know anything about the maintenance of these old greats. When I go to lagoon, JS2 is a staple of my visit and I hope they will continue to keep it running (within reason of course). I don't see scrapping it any time soon with the roll back mods, new loading station and such. Here's to the dream of another few years at lagoon. God speed JS2! The only good replacement in my book would be a Jumbo Jet!

Maybe we should give a No Limits contest a try with a moto coaster that fits in those space requirements

This is about starting a conversation about a replacement.

Let's just say there is only one Jet Star, Jet Star 2, Jumbo Jet, and City Jet that is not being held together by weekly or daily welding, and that is the one that was rebuilt from the bottom up for Alton Towers. To me, the new Dual Loading Station (which I've never seen used) and PLC Upgrade seems like a Dry Run for the New Mega Coaster. The new Anti Rollbacks were simply a replacement for the harder to maintain and less reliable old ones.

Don't really think a "Custom" Model is really an option for that space. :/

With all due respect to our beloved Jet Star 2......OOOOOH! Yah! Ian I'm liking this idea! Even thought Sid thinks it's not. Perhaps we could make it Lif's 2013 Summer No Limits Contest with the due date at the end of the summer on Labor Day agian. Whatca Ya'll think? Remember though, Jet Star 2's foot print is rather small and I find that smaller coasters are often a lot more challenging to build. Just a warning. A realistic template is going to seem awfully small.
It should be again noted: Jet Star 2 is by far my all time favorite ride ANYWHERE! I fully realise that it's time will come. I pray that we will have plenty of warning before it does. Celebrate it while we can! It's easy to forget just how lucky we are for Lagoon keeping and maintaining it all these years. Cherish every ride on it! (and all the buises....lol) Thank you Lagoon! Long Live Jet Star 2!"

RE: Jet Star 2 Discussion
Unfortunately I think Lagoon has bigger priorities then a ground up re-build of JS2. The 2014/15 project sounds big and will probably eat a lot of monetary resources. I love the direction that Lagoon is going. Over the years, Roller Coaster has seen many upgrades and rebuilds but never a complete overhaul (kinda hard on an old woodie). Like I said in my last post, it looks good and I don't know the maintenance aspect. If it has to be replaced, maybe a similar spiral lift coaster will be on the books. Anyone know a tentative timeline for retirement? Love the last paint job they did, wish the sign was back on top.
