The X-Venture zone is a collection of low-capacity rides designed to give those guests who are willing to pay a unique ride experience. These rides are not included in the all-day passport and do cost extra to ride. This helps keep the line lengths down and in some cases help pay for the higher maintenance costs that the ride demands.
The X-Venture Zone was created in 2000 with the addition of Double Thunder Raceway to the park. The new go-cart ride was built next to Top Eliminator and extended over to the Skycoaster area and in essence connecting all 3 of Lagoons pay rides together. So that area of the park got the name X-Venture Zone.
One other attraction, Peak Exposure, which was added in 1999 was also included in the X-Venture collection, but this attraction isn’t located near the others. The original idea was to test how well Peak did with park guests and then eventually move it to the north end near the other X-Venture rides. I don’t know what became of this idea, but it still sits in the old Skeeball South (exit of Roller Coaster) area.
If you have not taken the time to pay extra to try one of these rides than you are really missing out. I encourage everyone to save up a little extra when they go to Lagoon and try out a ride or two. The rides have high intensity, fast action, and pure adrenaline built into them and offer a fantastic experience. You will not regret taking the time to play in the X-Venture Zone.
