New for 2008
OdySea

Location: North Midway
Opened: 1964
Reopened: 1986
Model: Flying Skooters 10 Tub
Manufacturer: Bisch Rocco
Max Height: 25 Feet
Number of Planes: 10

Height Requirements: Riders under 46" in height must be accompanied by a responsible person.

Each plane is attached to the ride by two cables. As the ride rotates in a clockwise direction the riders use the front fin of the plane to control how high or low the plane can fly. Most like to use the fin to send their plane up and down during the course of the ride to get more of a thrill. When done correctly riders can gain much height.

When the Flying Aces were first installed at the park the ride was known as the Flying Jets. It had a simple paint job and was located south of the Roller Coaster's station in the spot where the Lagoon Music USA Theater now sits. At one point the ride was rethemed as the Flying Aces and the planes were given their own World War I insignia and names.

When the Music Theater was built the ride was dismantled and placed in storage. In 1986 it was brought back and placed where the Rocket now sits. When the Rocket was built the Flying Aces needed to find a new home. It was at this point that the ride was moved Southeast and placed between Jet Star and the Meadow terrace (it's current location).

In 2001 the ride got another paint job. The big difference was the planes no longer had their names. By 2002 though enough people had voiced their opinions regarding the missing names and Lagoon brought the names back.

Lagoon's Flying Aces is one of only two Flying Skooter models that rotate in a clockwise direction. All other models rotate in the opposite direction.
