Lagoon posted this image to Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter yesterday announcing a contest they will be running this Frightmares. All you have to do to enter is use the hashtag #Frightmares2014 when you share an image from Frightmares to a social network. Since Lagoon used Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter to announce this, and they all use hashtags to locate posts, I'm guessing it doesn't matter which of those three networks you use to share your image.

The details of this contest are a little sketchy, and we don't know what the prize will be yet. However, you can start participating in this contest beginning tomorrow when Frightmares 2014 begins! I will update this post as more information comes out concerning the contest.

If you'd like to see the competition, you can use the following links to see the photos people share:

Thumbs Up Cannibal Announcement Season Passport Offer

Lagoon is offering a one-of-a-kind deal to go along with their recent accouncement of Cannibal. Starting today, you can purchase a season passport for the price of $117.95 + tax per person and use that season passport during Frightmares this year and all next year.

This is a fantastic deal for those of you who may not have purchased a season pass this year and still want to experience Frightmares a few times plus go to Lagoon next year. I happen to be one of those people, and I am going to take advantage of this offer! If you've been keeping track, that is the price of the season pass since June when purchased in amounts of one to three. This also means that there is no four and more deal to save $10 per person. While that may disappoint some, I'm willing to pay the extra amount to enjoy Frightmares this year! Out of curiosity, are there any other Lagoon Is Fun users who plan to take advantage of this deal?

Here is Lagoon's announcement page on this offer: http://www.lagoonpark.com/admissions/seasonPassort

And here is the link to purchase a season passport: https://www.lagoonpark.com/servlet/OnlineSales

This offer expires on October 30th, but I doubt many people will wait that long to take advantage of it. I suspect Lagoon will role out some type of killer deal for season passes for the holiday shopping season again this year for those of you who already have 2014 season passes or people who don't plan to use the current season pass offer.

I'm also curious what all of you think of this offer especially if you already have a season pass. I've noticed some people complaining about no great Cannibal announcement offer for current season pass holders. Do you feel left out, or do you think this is a fair deal to get an early jump on 2015 season pass sales?

Spider Frightmares Begins This Friday (Sept. 19)

Lagoon's 2014 Frightmares season kicks off this Friday night at 5:00 p.m.! Are you prepared to experience the dark side of Lagoon? Frightmares runs September 19th through October 30th this year. Lagoon will be open every Friday night starting at 5 p.m. and every Saturday and Sunday at 11 a.m.. The exceptions to the schedule this year include October 16th and 17th where the park will be open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., as well as the last week of October where Lagoon will open every night at 5 from October 27th to the 30th.

Here is a list of everything you can enjoy during this year's Frightmares season:

Frightmares Attractions:
  • Spook-A-Boo Walk-Thru
  • Scary & Crow’s Straw Maze
  • Fun House of Fear
  • Twisted Tales *new for 2014
  • Zombie Lockdown
  • Nightwalk
  • Pioneer Village Scare Zone *new for 2014

New this year is a new fairly tale inspired house: Twisted Tales. This house will be located next to the Fun House of Fear and replaces last year's Backlot house. Here is what is on Lagoon's website about this house:

Quote:Once upon a time, uh oh... Venture to a land where there are no prince charmings, no happily ever afters, and the witch always wins. Twisted Tales will have you crawling out of your skin!

Another new attraction this year is an all new Pioneer Village Scare Zone! Lagoon is expanding Frightmares in Pioneer Village again. First, the straw maze got moved to main street and now Lagoon is setting up a scare zone. This new scare zone will be located on the north side of Pioneer Village. Here is what Lagoon has to say about that:

Quote:Take a walk around town hall, the church complete with a cemetary, the smoke house and much more. Keep an eye out for the town residents, you never know where the scare will come!

I'm happy to report that Lagoon is continuing the Frightmares Character Dining experience. If you haven't had a chance to give this a try, I recommend it. My wife and I tried it last year and had a lot of fun. It costs $25 per person and includes a meal, time to take photos with various Frightmares Characters, and a TimeWarp Fast Pass, which allows you to skip the lines to the four major haunted houses. You must purchase your character dining tickets online. You can do so here: https://lagoonpark.com/servlet/OnlineSales

Looks like there is a good amount of stuff to enjoy this year for all ages. I'm excited to see Lagoon continue to build on Frightmares by giving us a new scare zone. I'm interested to see how it turns out. So, who is planning on heading out to the park this weekend and experiencing the first of what Frightmares 2014 has to offer?

Note: one piece of information that I don't have as of writing this post is the entertainment offerings for this year's Frightmares. Lagoon has not updated their site to indicate what we may see. As soon as I hear more, I will update this post with that information as well.

Lagoon's webcam sits atop the Wac-A-Mole game and looks at the interactive fountain. A new image is taken every 5 minutes. This image will automatically refresh to bring you the most recent picture taken from the webcam.
